A mid-weight nylon with water resistance and scads o versatility, the MA-1 Navy fighter pilot jacket was the first military flight jacket to cross over into civilian fashion. Our nylon flight jacket includes knit cuffs, a knit collar and waistband, as well as a strong front zipper with storm flap for warmth. Our MA-1 jackkets are reversible to bright orange, making them ideal for rescue missions and other times when visibility is imperative.

This current version has been kept as close as possible to the classic specifications, which debuted in 1950 and received several revisions durin the 1960's.

The U.S. Air Force issued thhe MA-1 from the 1950s to the 1980s, and it is one of the most famous flight jackets of all times. Made to military specification MIL-J-82790J, the outer shell is Mil-spec sage nylon Flite Satin with an orange nylon lining and warm polyester batting insulation. Heavy nylon knit cuffs, collar, and waistband keep the chill out. It has flap pockets on the outside, snap pockets on the inside and a zippered pen-and-pencil pocket on the sleeve. It is completely reversible for emergency use.
